After such a wonderful experience in the fall/winter of 2019/2020, I joined the national reading committee again for the 2021 Bay Area Playwrights Festival.
I didn’t get a chance to write a lot of script reviews this month. I was able to start reading some musical books that have started gathering dust on my bookshelf though. Here we go!
It might seem a little bit outdated, but I want to take a minute to recognize some scripts that I read for the Bay Area Playwrights Festival that really stood out to me.
It’s going to take a lot for me to get back in the groove of things as theatre begins to open back up and I begin to find work again.
I read a lot of scripts. It’s what I have to do. It’s what I love to do. It’s about time I start writing some script reviews.
Is filming in front of a live studio audience a form of theatre?
Representation matters. Full stop.
Every moving part of this show is magnificent. I wish this performance was running longer and that everyone I know would take the time to see it. It is that important. Remember, “it is never too late to be kind.”
Today is International Women’s Day and I would like to spotlight some of the amazing women that I have had the chance to work with behind the curtain. Here’s to strong women: may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them.
